PADI Open Water & PADI Advanced Open Water
TIMEFRAME: Can be completed in 2-3 days.
Many people take their EFR (Emergency First Response) course concurrently with their Rescue Diver as West Bay Divers gives a $50 discount when both are taken together. If you already have taken this course or one equivalent within the last 24 months than this is not required.
Rescue Diver training will help prepare you to stop issues before they progress as well as confidently manage dive emergencies. Knowledge development sessions are followed by confined and skills training and open water scenarios, where you will cover:
Self Rescue Skills
Tired diver Tow
Calming and Handling a Panicked diver
Response from shore, dock or boat (responsive diver)
Distressed diver underwater
Missing diver search and rescue techniques
First aid for pressure related (barotrauma) injuries and oxygen administration
Response from shore or boat, unresponsive diver
Surfacing and initiating rescue breaths for the unresponsive diver underwater and at surface
At West Bay Divers, our experienced instructors train you above and beyond industry standards. We believe people learn best through repetition so in each skill we will show you the proper way to do it, assist you as you perform the skill and then let you perform the skill without assistance. The knowledge development portion involves five knowledge reviews that your instructor will cover with you, the creation of an emergency assistance plan for a specific dive site and a final exam.
