West Bay Divers was, once again, the hit of our summer vacation. We have been diving with this shop for 10 years. To this day, you truly can’t find a better dive shop on the island. The staff consistently demonstrates the perfect balance of kindness, patience, and humor to provide extremely safe, incredibly fun, and low-stress dives catered to your interests and experience level.
All equipment and gear (rented or personal) is well cared for, already loaded onto the boat each day before your dive, and cleaned in the evenings. Joel, our divemaster, was invested in getting to know each diver as an individual, thoughtfully planned each dive to maximize our experience, and made every dive so much fun!
Our boat captain, Anthony, was excellent and extremely helpful before and after each dive. It’s also worth mentioning that WBD management paid their employees during the pandemic despite tourism restrictions - another testament to the amazing people who work here. We are already excited about our next trip! Thank you WBD!

I took. an Emergency First Responder (EFR) course last week with West Bay Divers.
Mayghan was my instructor for the EFR course. She is an excellent teacher. She was extremely instructive and made sure that everyone in the class mastered all of the vital concepts and understood the ‘why’ behind each. She made the course lively and involved all of us in mastering each of the essential skills.
I came away from the course with confidence and a feeling of pride.
I would suggest this training for everyone and recommend West Bay Divers and Mayghan without any hesitation..

Eva and Joel were wonderful, friendly, fun, and charming divemasters. Both very experienced and each a pleasure to be with. I’d say the same about Capt. Hazel, and it would be true, but he’s so cool he wouldn’t admit it. Angel, who is also a great guy, ran the on-land operation with great communication and precision. Tight ship. Thanks Eva, Joel, Hazel, and Angel. I feel like I have friends on Roatan.
Finally, I’ll point out how well they cater to a mixed crew. This time, we were two couples including two AOW divers, one certified diver that hadn’t been diving in 20 years, and one person that took the open water course with West Bay Divers while we were there. We got custom, concierge-level service and attention on all fronts. If you’re looking for a place to take a PADI class, this is it! If you have 1,000 dives under your belt and want to push the "Easy Button," this is still it!

My husband and I took the refresher Scuba Diving course, and went on a few dives with Gaby. She was fun and helpful in tuning up our scuba skills, as well as pointing out creatures underwater.
All the staff we encountered were very polite and helpful. We loved scuba diving with the turtles, and my husband really enjoyed the shark dive too! West Bay Divers was very convenient for us, and had great quality equipment. We would definitely come back!

If you are looking for a top-notch dive experience, go with West Bay Divers. My husband and I are experienced divers, and were looking for an array of different diving experiences.
WBD went the extra mile to tailor our dive trips to exactly what we wanted. From the incredible topography of Spooky Channel, to the amazing swim-throughs in Canyon Reef & Bear's Den, to the awesome wreck dive in El Aguila, to the absolutely out of this world experience seeing bio-luminescence and strings-of-pearl during our night dive, we were thrilled with our experience the entire time. My fiancé and I had a wonderful time diving with West Bay Divers this week! We did seven dives in three days, and each dive was absolutely wonderful. Hazel was a great boat captain and Edwin and Mayghan were both great dive leaders; they each had impressive knowledge of the many sections of Roatan’s reefs and made us both feel at ease. The equipment was excellent quality, and the West Bay (Grand Roatan dive shop) is in a very convenient location (we stayed at Infinity Bay, and usually the West Bay Divers boat would meet us on the Infinity Bay dock right in front of the hotel, or we would walk 3 minutes to the West Bay at Grand Roatan dive shop).
We never had more than 6 Divers on the boat, and the dive master guided us on each dive. We only have our open water certification and we were able to see everything we wanted without feeling like we missed out not going below 60’. We would definitely come back and dive with West Bay Divers again!
